For those of you who missed the announcment at the VPSC Awards & Holiday Celebration... the winning team of the 2020 Black, White & Silver Challenege was Team Silver! Congrats to the memebers of Team Silver as well as to all the swimmers who took part in our first ever Black, White & Silver Challenege.

How it works:

Each age group (Senior, Junior, Youth, Youth Development) will be split into three teams for a series of in practice competitions taking place for the months of October, November and December. Teams will compete in every event (except for distance due to time constraints during practice), spread out across the months. Youth Development groups will have some variation of events due to age and ability.

Results/Scoring:

  • The results will be tracked and scored similar to a regular competition/meet.
  • The results will be posted to the VPSC website the Tuesday following each competition week.

Challenge Dates:

The competition weeks are: October 19, November 2, November 16, November 30

The groups will compete during the following practices:

  • Senior 1 - Sundays
  • Senior 2 - Fridays
  • Senior 3 - Wednesdays
  • Junior 1 and Junior 2 - Saturdays
  • Junior 3 - Saturdays
  • Youth 1 and 2 - Saturdays
  • Youth 3 - Saturdays
  • Gold 1 - Thursdays
  • Gold 2 - Fridays
  • Silver -  Wednesdays
  • Bronze - Thursdays

Social Media:

We’ll be incorporating social media into the Black, White & Silver Challenge. Team spirit will be strongly encouraged throughout the entire competition. The Senior groups will be creating cheers for their teams. We’ll post these cheers on our social media channels and on the VPSC website for the younger groups to learn and perform for each team. There will be prizes for best and loudest cheer.

Prizes:

To add to the fun and competitiveness of the in-house competition, there will also be prizes up for grabs during each competition week. Our sponsor, Arena, has donated some awesome prizes. Each competition week, the “Sanitized Kick Board of Victory” will be awarded to the highest scoring team each competition week. Socially distanced photos will be taken of each weekly team.
